Can anyone figure out where this photo was taken? Was that Vic's
neighborhood? Where was Vic's neighborhood?
Mr. Lake

No idea; but surely the mayor's bubble caption should read: "Don't believe
any false rumors unless you hear them from me..."!

The Schiros lived at 21 Tern Street and I believe it was Lakeview (?)
mentioned that prior to that they resided on Catina or in that
vecinity.

Can't figure where the picture was taken, but that is the
Mayor's Cadillac behind Vic and Sunny (the City seal is on the door). He would
have had a chauffer, probably Paul Nazar.

Notice the sign that appears to read "Miracle Mile Baptist Mission" in the
top center. Does that give yawl any clues. Magazine Street, maybe?

Ya nailed it for me! Tulane Avenue was known as "The Miracle Mile" when they
started building all those hotels on it, such as, Fountainebleu, Tamanaca, De
Ville, etc.

Your mention of the Tamanaca brought back the memory that my mom manned the
front desk at several of those places on Tulane. I think Tamanaca was one of
them - others were the Capri and the Thunderbird - and maybe one more, I'm not
sure. Hadn't thought about those in years. Those motels were respectable places
in those days - I mean, businessmen, tourists and families stayed there.

Before Tern Street they lived on West End Blvd., not far from Polk and Catina
where I lived when I was a kid. This photo can't be near either of their
residences.
