Treme Market

The Treme Market. Located on the neutral ground of Orleans Avenue between Marais and North Robertson Streets, the market building extended over Villere Street, as shown in the photograph. Built in the 1830s, the Treme Market survived until 1932 when it was demolished so that Orleans could be beautified in order to serve as an approach to the new Municipal Auditorium. Stall keepers moved into a new Treme Market in the 1500 block of Orleans.
