Marks Isaacs Co.
was among the numerous department stores on Canal Street during the first half
of the twentieth century. Marks Isaacs himself lived in the striking residence
on St. Charles Avenue that is now home to the Milton Latter Memorial Library, a
branch of the New Orleans Public Library system. The store closed in the
mid-1960s.
