Where'd ya'go ta school?

When the question is asked "Where'd ya'go ta school?" we respond by saying where we went to high school. Because New Orleans is like a small town we usually know someone who attended that highschool during that time (we calculate in our mind how old we think the person is) and we can find connections which lead to good converstation.

In some ways, that's an outdated way of discovering mutual friends. Today the better question might be "Where'd ya'go ta GRAMMA' school?"

Since the surburban influx during the late 50s through the late 70s kids often attend high school far away from their homes. "Where'd ya'go ta GRAMMA' school?" would give us much better clues as to who knows who and who lived where.
